If you've been following Metal Slug Tactics, then you'll be pleased to hear that the first-ever demo for the game is available today as part of Steam Next Fest, the demo is only available until June 17th though. The full game is due to be released in the Fall.

You can also get a look at an extended gameplay trailer below, which features 6 minutes of in-game tactics action:

In the Metal Slug Tactics’ demo, you'll be joining your favorite Metal Slug characters for a challenging, strategy-testing approach to combat spanning the first region of the full game. You’ll begin in the squad’s barracks, a home base for upgrading characters and buying equipment, where you’ll choose fighters to deploy together on a mission.

You'll want to consider each character’s unique abilities while building a team; and compose the right strategies to suit your playstyle, whether outright attacking or outwitting the enemy. You'll be up against familiar foes and some new ones as well. Clear high-tension fights to unlock Tarma as a playable character, an energetic powerhouse who will be invaluable against the bosses you'll face in the full game.

Metal Slug Tactics features highly replayable battlefields pair shuffled layouts from hand-crafted sectors of terrain with subtle rogue-lite elements, pushing fighters to adapt and overcome unpredictable clashes as they master dynamic, strategic combat.

Metal Slug Tactics will be available on Steam in Fall 2024. A demo is available now. The game will have full controller support, and the system requirements shouldn't trouble the Steam Deck, so there shouldn't be an issue playing this one on the go.
