When I was younger, I loved board and card games, and when it came to card games, Yu-Gi-Oh was my go-to game. I was a fan of the show and manga, but I really fell in love with the video games. I still fondly remember my favorite game, Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition for the Game Boy Advance. I had a chance to replay it recently, thanks to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection, and it was like going through my childhood again. It actually got me into researching the newest game in the series, and that's where I came upon Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel.
It's an intriguing game, but I love what Konami is doing here. One of the more unique aspects is the Shadow Duelist tournament, where people participate and compete to win, while a celebrity Shadow Duelist roams over the tournament. The winners get an autographed copy of the mask that they are wearing, signed by the celebrity hidden underneath. This year's celebrity was recently revealed as well, and it gave me another shot of nostalgia!

Dylan Sprouse was unmasked as the newest celebrity Shadow Duelist, which completely shocked me. I remember my days of watching The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, so seeing Dylan pop up was a surprise. I watched the final broadcast where he faced off against the season's top duelist, and they ended up winning a signed Baron Bloodthorne mask from him. Honestly, I have never heard of this before, but I love the entire idea.
I loved it enough to actually give the game a try, and it's awesome. It runs like a charm on the Steam Deck, hitting 90 FPS and sticking underneath 13W battery drain, and looking incredible. I have been playing a lot of Magic: The Gathering Arena, and while I enjoy it, Master Duel's controller support is such a nice addition that makes it much more playable. I did have to switch the controller layout to Gamepad with Joystick Trackpad manually, but otherwise, I had no issues playing.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is free on Steam right now and is rated Steam Deck Verified.
