Double Fine Studios has always been one of my favorite developers, making the weirdest games. From Psychonauts to Keeper, they have been consistent in creating these outlandish experiences that still find a way to be wonderfully captivating. And from the looks of it, this trend is going to continue for their next game. Kiln is an online multiplayer game where you will be controlling pottery to smash the opponents. You will create your own pottery on a pottery wheel, grab friends, and work together to demolish the enemy team. And it sounds like we will be able to smash some pottery on the Steam Deck when it launches.

Kiln

I had a chance to ask Double Fine about Kiln and whether it will have support for the Steam Deck and other handhelds. They confirmed that they are working on handheld optimization at launch, specifically mentioning that the Deck is included. For a studio whose parent company (Xbox) has its own handheld, it's nice to see that the team is looking at making sure other handhelds, especially ones that aren't using Windows, are supported.

Kiln is still in heavy development, and it doesn't even have recommended or minimum specifications yet, but it sounds like they are working to make sure to support as much as they can. I am overjoyed to hear this. The game looks awesome, being able to create your own pottery from scratch and gang up with friends to fight other pottery just sounds like so much fun. And with all the unique abilities that are dependent on your pottery's shape and size, it looks like there will be some strategy involved as well.

Kiln can be wishlisted ahead of its release this year.
