Platforming fans can get a sneak peek at Weappy Studio's next game, The Eternal Life of Goldman, which combines platforming, exploration, and visuals reminiscent of children's books in a video demo that was just released. The game, published by THQ Nordic, will be available for the PC and other platforms, but no official release date has been confirmed just yet.

In The Eternal Life of Goldman, players assume the role of the titular character, Goldman, a hero who is at home in a realm of distorted folklore and twisted fairy tales. All of the objects, characters, and environments in the demo are hand-painted in 2D, making them stand out from the rest. At first look, the game's breathtaking graphics set a dreamlike mood that mixes the supernatural with the fantastic.

Setting the story on the Archipelago—a mysterious land teeming with secrets and strange characters—the protagonists are sent on a mission to track down and eliminate the Deity, a terrifying monster that no one has ever seen. Upgrading his cane and unlocking new abilities is a key part of Goldman's journey. It opens up new areas to explore and deeper mysteries to unravel. Strange and twisted monsters culled from old folklore will appear as players go through the game, adding to the foreboding atmosphere.

The platforming aims to be both difficult and fast-paced. Some enemies necessitate strategy rather than mere brute force, as demonstrated by the boss fight towards the end of the demo. If you like games with a combination of narrative, precise platforming, and artistic flair, you might really enjoy this one.

First impressions are solid. Based on the demo trailer, The Eternal Life of Goldman looks like a precision platformer with interesting gameplay and a world that combines elements of dark fairy tales with those of modern fantasy.
