This shortage has impacted pricing and availability for almost all manufacturers in recent months. Even small accessories like SD cards and thumb drives are seeing incremental price increases. The main reason is the surge of AI in technology, which demands stronger processing power, more simultaneous tasks, and additional storage to handle it all.

On Discord, AYN shared a series of updates covering shipping progress, upcoming plans for the year, and details on future preorder batches. The message concludes with a pricing update for the AYN Thor, along with a brief explanation of the factors driving the expected increase.

The AYN Thor has largely avoided these price increases, but it is not uncommon for console makers to raise prices to offset increases in internal components. Nintendo has stated that the Switch 2 is in high production and should avoid immediate price hikes throughout 2026. Still, if current trends continue, price increases may become more common. Nintendo already raised the price of the original Switch models by thirty to fifty dollars.
