AYN has been crushing it with their handheld lineup recently, kicking it off with one of the best dual-screen handhelds out now, the AYN Thor, and the AYN Odin 3 is set to be another banger from them. I have been loving my time with it so far, using the very powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chip to blast through emulated games and push performance in others as much as I can. And now, it's only going to get better as we get closer to the public release of the device.

AYN Odin 3

Announced over on the AYN Discord server, the AYN Odin 3 will be getting two new features leading up to its release. First up is a charge limit to increase how long your battery will last. This doesn't increase battery capacity directly, but it does make it take longer for your battery health to deteriorate. It ultimately makes the battery last longer over time since its health doesn't reduce, which is a nice touch. There will be an 80% charge limit to keep it living at 100% as long as it can.

And finally, we will have OLED burn-in protection, which I am especially happy about. This adds an option to turn on a pixel shifter and refresher, which will stop the OLED screen from burning in any images on the screen if it's left too long. The pixel shifter will slightly move pixels around the screen, while the refresher will just quickly refresh the screen. Both of these are relatively unnoticeable and will keep your OLED screen from burning in any static images that are left up for longer periods of time.

While I wouldn't consider either of these essential, they are very welcome and something I am happy to have as features in the Odin 3. I always get worried about burn-in with the OLED screen, so I will definitely be using it. The charge limit is a nice touch as well, and will help increase how long a battery's health will last. Both of these are great, and I am glad these features were added in.

Odin3 2

Both of these features should roll out relatively soon, with the Odin 3 getting it at the end of this week. The AYN Thor will also be getting these features after two weeks, and that's just music to my ears.

The AYN links above are using an affiliate link, which gives us a little back from sales at no extra charge to you. All proceeds go back into SDHQ and its development.
