There are times when big companies can make us feel like they aren't listening to the consumers who purchase their products, but then there are the times it feels like they actually listen. Today, SEGA has listened to the players and it is fantastic. A new update for Sonic Superstars was released today that removes the requirement to login with an Epic Games account to access the online multiplayer Battle Mode.

Before the update, you were prompted to log in with your Epic account when booting up the game, which was an impossible window to close unless you changed your control scheme to one with a mouse trackpad. Now, that prompt is gone and you can access the online multiplayer mode without needing to log in. This was one of the two issues I had playing the game on the Steam Deck, so I am extremely happy SEGA made this change!

There is still Denuvo Anti-Tamper, which is the other issue I had that may be causing some light stuttering, but one step forward is still one step forward! Otherwise, I did really enjoy the game and feel it's a solid 2D Sonic games, just with those minor issues that seem to be getting corrected one at a time.

Sonic Superstars is currently available for purchase on multiple storefronts, including:
