Retroid has announced two new colors for their 2024 flagship handheld, the Retroid Pocket 5.
The Retroid Pocket 5 was one of the first handhelds to usher in the wave of premium mid-tier devices. It features the Snapdragon 865 alongside a 1080p OLED screen and an entirely glass front casing.

While the black glass casing and OLED screen pair well, making black bars from letterboxing or pillarboxing almost completely disappear, the company has announced yellow and turquoise as new colors for the handheld, more than a year after its initial release.
These two color options are more than likely built off the back of their slightly improved Retroid Pocket 5 offering, the Retroid Pocket G2. The G2 contains many of the same specs as the Pocket 5, but has upgraded its chipset from the Snapdragon 865 to the Snapdragon G2 Gen 2, moved from LPDDR4X RAM to LPDDR5X, and upgraded the stock Android experience from Android 13 to Android 15.

New color options allow for more freedom of choice for those looking to pick up a Retroid Pocket 5, but at the same time, with a retail price of $199.99, the $20 price difference between the RP5 and RPG2 is well worth the upgrade. Faster chip, faster RAM, and an overall easier time playing PS2 games with various texture packs and other gameplay improvements.
If you are interested in these new colors, they can be bought directly from Retroid for the same $199 price as all other color options.
