I remember first seeing Zoochosis and being completely shocked by it. It found a great balance of creepy and thrilling, and it all taking place within a zoo with animals was a fantastic choice. While it does fulfill a lot of that creepy vibe, it unfortunately wasn't the greatest experience on the Steam Deck initially. However, the experience should be a bit better after the last major update.

Developer Clapperheads pushed out a new update to celebrate the Steam Autumn Sale and it brings with it optimizations for the Steam Deck! It doesn't have any specifics about what they did to optimize it, but they did mention that full controller support has been added, which helps playing the game on the Deck immensely.

I went ahead and tried the game after this update, and while it is still draining more battery than I would like, it is running better. I was getting a solid 30 FPS at the default settings in my short time testing, and the controller support is solid. Considering there were spots I was getting drops into 15 FPS and controlling the game was difficult, I would consider this a much needed, much more enjoyable update for the game.

There are a couple of other new parts to this update, like an ending tracker so you can more easily figure out how to get a different ending to the game, and new fixes like Penguins now always taking a poo after eating. There are also some improved animations and making sure severed hands only appear once.

You can check out the full changelog for the update via their Steam Community Post.
