Banjo-Kazooie is one of the few older titles I find myself coming back to. It brings me back to some of the golden years of 3D platformers, and it's what initially drew me to Yooka-Laylee. As a spiritual successor to the Banjo-Kazooie series from key personnel from Rare, it had much to live up to, and I enjoyed it a lot. Recently, developer Playtonic Games announced a definitive remake of the game, titled Yooka-Replaylee. And today, we got a brand new trailer announcing the October 9th release date for the game.

This is a remake of the original 2017 release, but there are some big changes. The story has been refined with new sequences and plot points added, the visuals have been overhauled to look and perform better, there are new minigames and platforming challenges, a new collectible currency, a new map and collectibles tracker, new ways to customize your playstyle with game-changing enhancements, revamped controls and camera, and more.

On top of that, it will hopefully be very playable on the Steam Deck. The team is working on Steam Deck optimization and aiming for full support at launch. While there are no guarantees, it's still great to see that the team does have the Deck in mind and are working on it.

Yooka-Replaylee can be wishlisted on Steam ahead of its October 9th release, and it will be $29.99.
