If you thought last week had a ton of new Steam Deck Verified/Playable games, then this week will blow your mind. There are a lot of incredible games that have made their way into the Verified and Playable badges, which will hopefully bring more people to check them out. That being said, here are the highlights we found from the past week:
Verified or Playable games don't automatically mean they work amazing out of the box. Some of these games may require work to optimize and play well. Here are our thoughts on the Verified system and how it can be fixed.
Steam Deck Verified/Playable Highlights 9/25/23 - 10/1/23
Paleo Pines (Verified) (SDHQ Review)
Welcome to Paleo Pines, a charming island known for its friendly dinosaurs, quirky townsfolk, and mysterious past. Befriend dinos and enlist their help to fix up your ranch and farm crops to create your cozy dino sanctuary! Then set out with your companion, Lucky, to uncover the island’s secrets.
The game is $29.99 (on sale for $26.99 until tomorrow) and is rated Verified.
Trepang2 (Verified)
Become the ultimate badass in Trepang2: A gory, action-packed FPS set in the near future. Unleash all hell on your enemies, dodge bullets and leave a trail of destruction in this hardcore and frenetic shooter.
Trepang2 is $29.99 and is rated Verified.
Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless (Verified) (SDHQ Review)
Disgaea is back and better than ever in Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless! Join Fuji as he embarks on a perilous journey of redemption, and experience unique features new to the SRPG series!
Disgaea 7 releases tomorrow and is rated Verified. We have also tested the game on the Steam Deck and it works wonderfully.
NBA 2K24 (Playable)
Experience hoops culture in NBA 2K24. Enjoy loads of action and limitless personalized MyPLAYER options in MyCAREER. Build your perfect lineup in MyTEAM. Feel more responsive gameplay and polished visuals while playing with your favorite NBA and WNBA teams in PLAY NOW.
NBA 2K24 is $59.99 and rated Playable due to small in-game text.
Counter Strike 2 (Playable)
For over two decades, Counter-Strike has offered an elite competitive experience, one shaped by millions of players from across the globe. And now, the next chapter in the CS story is about to begin. This is Counter Strike 2.
Counter Strike 2 is free to play and rated Playable due to small in-game text. While it may be rated Playable, I wouldn't consider this a good game to play on the Steam Deck because it will slow down the more people are connected to the match.
Beneath Oresa (Verified)
Beneath Oresa, a fighting roguelike deckbuilder, takes you deep within the city to confront your foes. As a strategist, choose your cards, upgrades, and artifacts wisely, but as a fighter, turn their positioning to your advantage.
Beneath Oresa is $24.99 (on sale for $17.49 until October 4th) and is rated Verified.
Outer Wilds (Verified)
Named Game of the Year 2019 by Giant Bomb, Polygon, Eurogamer, and The Guardian, Outer Wilds is a critically-acclaimed and award-winning open-world mystery about a solar system trapped in an endless time loop.
The Outer Wilds is $24.99 and rated Verified.
Arcadian Atlas (Playable) (SDHQ Review)
Arcadian Atlas is a Tactical RPG about the choices people make for love and power, and how those decisions tear a kingdom apart.
Arcadian Atlas is $29.99 and rated Playable due to small in-game text, not supporting the Steam Deck's resolution, and sometimes showing non-Steam-Deck controller icons.
AK-xolotl (Playable)
The cutest, deadliest and ONLY top-down roguelike shooter featuring AK-wielding Axolotls. Blast your way through the animal kingdom with an arsenal of kick-ass guns, mighty power-ups and even raise an army of trigger-happy baby axolotls.
AK-xolotl is $18.99 and is rated Playable due to sometimes showing non-Steam-Deck controller icons.
Mythforce (Playable)
Step into a Saturday Morning Cartoon! Adventure through crypts and castles with your friends in this First-person Melee Roguelike.
Mythforce is $29.99 and rated Playable due to a setup tool that doesn't support gamepad controls, sometimes showing non-Steam-Deck controller icons, some text requiring the virtual keyboard, and needing manual settings configurations to perform well.
AI: The Somnium Files (Playable)
In a near-future Tokyo, detective Kaname Date is on the case of a mysterious serial killer. Date must investigate crime scenes as well as dreams on the hunt for clues. From the mind of Kotaro Uchikoshi (Zero Escape series director), with character design by the Yusuke Kozaki (NO MORE HEROES, Fire Emblem series), a thrilling neo-noir detective adventure is about to unfold.
AI: The Somnium Files is $39.99 and rated Playable due to using a launcher that doesn't support gamepad controls, sometimes showing non-Steam-Deck controller icons, and needing to configure the display resolution manually.
You can also view last week's highlights here, which include Factorio, Mineko's Night Market, and Rune Factory 3 Special.
