Get ready for Slitterhead, a terrifying horror-action game from Bokeh Game Studio and well-known horror author Keiichiro Toyama. Slitterhead, which will be available on PC through Steam starting next week, transports players to the shadowy depths of Kowlong, where the distinction between humans and monsters becomes hazy in horrifying ways.

Bokeh revealed fresh details about the game's ominous setting, characters, and abilities just before it was released. These elements are all intended to put players in a terrible survival battle against terrifying Slitterheads.

A Battle for Humanity’s Survival in Kowlong

The Slitterheads prey on humans in the shadows of Kowlong, imitating human appearance after devouring the brains of their victims. Here comes Hyoki, an enigmatic ghost who is the only thing that can track down the Slitterheads and bring things back into harmony. Complex relationships between human morality and monstrous instincts are exposed as the gory battles reveal hidden truths about this unsettling world.

Meet the Characters of Slitterhead

Blake: An experienced leader of the Slitterhead Pursuit and Elimination Unit (SPEU), is ruthless and practical, making difficult choices to safeguard humanity. His fighting prowess, which is fueled by his own blood, allows him to wield terrifying abilities that match his brutal approach.

Betty: A mysterious elderly woman who is confined to her opulent hilltop home and appears to be involved in the city's atrocities. Her cryptic communications suggest that she has a long-standing relationship with the Slitterheads.

Lisa: Knowing Alex's secret life as a Slitterhead hunter, Lisa, a nurse at Alex's underground clinic, becomes increasingly alarmed whenever he vanishes into the night. In Kowlong's perverse reality, her kindness provides a unique window into humanity.

Unique and Horrific Abilities

Each character has unique blood-based skills to fight the terrifying Slitterheads, which heightens the visceral horror of survival:

Blake’s Skills:

Bloody Shot: A deadly machine gun that uses blood to rip through enemies at Blake's own life.

Bloody Mine: When unwary adversaries step on blood, it turns into lethal landmines that explode with devastating force.

Bloody Gamble: By using a handgun made of blood, Blake is risking everything, but if he is unlucky, the weapon could backfire and hurt him.

Betty’s Skills:

Indomitable: Boosts Betty's strength and defenses as she defends her position, temporarily rendering her all but invulnerable.

Diabolic: Any Slitterheads who dare to approach suffer severe damage as the blood pools surrounding her feet transform into slashing blades.

Lunatic: Betty's unsettling murmurs incite the Slitterheads in the vicinity to harbor murderous ideas against one another.

The Dark Lore of Slitterheads

Slitterheads are dreadful, shape-shifting creatures that represent basic anxieties and lurk in Kowlong's shadows. A Slitterhead that has eaten a human brain will take on the person's appearance, memories, and even personality. Because of this, they are able to fit in perfectly with society and frequently assume powerful positions that help them further their pernicious influence.

Slitterheads are hideous in their "Pupal Form," when they spread their tentacles and transform the human face into a hideous thing. Once harmed, they abandon their hosts and look for new victims. Their final change, known as the "Complete Form," reveals a terrifying being that combines the features of fish, mollusks, and insects, frequently adopting a mantis-like, predatory posture.

SPEU: Humanity’s Last Line of Defense

In order to prevent the use of blood-based abilities, the SPEU uses specialized armor and jamming devices to eliminate Slitterheads. They are a powerful force to be reckoned with, even for Hyoki, because their shields can block direct attacks. The SPEU, the only human organization that can fight Slitterheads, has adopted a mission that now includes any entity considered “Possessed,” resulting in a tense relationship between Hyoki and these purported defenders.

I’m genuinely excited for Slitterhead to finally drop on November 8th. From everything we've seen, it's shaping up to be an essential fright fest for horror fans who crave both gritty action and psychological tension. Trust me, if you’re into games that push boundaries in horror, this is one you’ll want on your Steam Wishlist. Get ready to face the darkness of Kowlong—it’s going to be a wild scary ride!
