With the announcement of Another Angle Games' Shadow of the Road, Owlcat Games is taking a leap into the realm of tactical RPGs. This game combines classic role-playing with turn-based combat in an alternate 19th-century Japan. Shadow of the Road tells a story where steampunk technology and Japanese mythology meet.

Positioned in the midst of a dispute between the Shogun and the Emperor, the story of the game takes place as the Boshin War draws to a close. A party of adventurers, commanded by the spymaster of the Tokugawa shogunate, will be led by the player as they traverse a world where cunning and decision-making are paramount. Satoru and Akira, two ronin warriors, are tasked with safeguarding a young boy who possesses tremendous and perilous abilities.

Players will encounter a range of characters in Shadow of the Road, each with unique backgrounds and motivations, shaping the narrative through choices that could mend or break relationships. The turn-based combat system requires strategic thinking, with each character's abilities and personal goals influencing outcomes on the battlefield.

Shadow of the Road is one of the first RPG titles to be published by Owlcat Games, known for its focus on complex characters and deep narratives. You will be able to purchase the game on Steam when it launches, add it to your wish list now to be notified of when it launches.
