Update 11/19/22: Added paragraph with details of the Steam Deck support given to us by the developer
We love seeing games getting Steam Deck support and this one has been on our radar for quite awhile! Selaco, an upcoming first person shooter, is getting Steam Deck support for their next demo iteration on December 16th! This was posted to Twitter by the official game account this morning:
We have reached out to the developers to see exactly what Steam Deck support means in this case, whether it is just gamepad support that extends to the Deck or if there are some specific improvements made to cater to the Deck (which hopefully includes gyro aiming). Once we hear back, we will update this article accordingly!
Update: The developer of Selaco responded to us giving a bit more detail to the Steam Deck support that will be added. Other than the game having full controller support and a native Linux build, there will be 2 Steam Deck optimized settings (one for performance and one for quality), as well as other little features like vibration support. Their goal is to be Steam Deck verified by Valve on release.
They did also mention that gyro aiming was proving to be a bit difficult to add to the engine and that they might look into it later. They said it might also not be hard to force gyro aiming into the game via an external application. We did ask about using Steam Input to add in gyro and are waiting to hear back on that. So far it sounds like they are taking great care for Steam Deck support and we love to hear it!
Selaco does have a demo out now and you can wishlist the game on Steam. It will also be coming out with full Linux support, which is another awesome fact!
