One of the few games I have been endlessly obsessed with lately on the Steam Deck is Megabonk. It's extremely hard to put down. The combination of mechanics from Risk of Rain mixes well with Vampire Survivors and creates this addictive experience that I find myself losing way too much time in. I am still working my way through, but it seems I will have even more to enjoy since a new patch has just been released with some brand new content.

The new update was originally planned to be a Halloween update, but it ultimately had more content added, which delayed the release. Now it's here! With it, we have a brand new map, character, weapon, items, enemies, bosses, achievements, and challenges, which is wonderful for a free update. It's quite easy to get these too. Just beat Desert Tier 2 with Calcium and defeat the Ghost bosses. This will unlock the new map. Once there, defeat the boss and unlock the new weapon, and that will give you the new character!
The new map is quite intriguing as well. It starts off with us in a dungeon and we need to escape, and after that, we need to find crypt keys and defeat bosses as normal. We only have 1 minute to escape, but there are some free chests loitering around, so it's possible to get some extra buffs before heading into the main event.
We also have some new settings and UI elements that allow us to show shrine counters, disable Silver Pots, skip animations, and show the item feed. There are also some bug fixes and balancing improvements, along with the ability to open up a console and select a specific seed for a dungeon. We also have some improvements to late-game framerate, which is quite nice since it can start to get very hectic. I never noticed massive drops or battery drain spikes on the Steam Deck, but it's good to know regardless.
Megabonk is on sale for $7.99 until December 17th and is rated Verified. It's flawless on the Steam Deck as well, getting upwards of 90 FPS with low battery drain, though I prefer keeping it at 60 to maximize battery life.
