Mclaren Racing and Sonic forming a partnership was not on my bingo card this year, but that is what SEGA is doing!
McLaren Racing has today announced a new multi-year partnership with Sonic the Hedgehog, making SEGA the official gaming partner of McLaren Racing Limited. It’s not the strangest alliance I’ve ever seen, I guess. Both things tend to go zoom, but this was perhaps destined to happen. At the 1993 European Grand Prix, known as the Sonic Grand Prix, McLaren F1 Team driver Ayrton Senna was awarded a Sonic the Hedgehog trophy on the podium. Today’s announcement honours that heritage, while firmly looking to the future.

As for what that means for gamers, SEGA has been holding an event at McLaren Racing Live: London this week, and Sonic Racing Crossworlds is coming out in September. That can be wishlisted on Steam, and is available for pre-order!
