The Jackbox Party Packs are some of the best party games around, and the Megapicker launcher is a great way to filter them all in. Unfortunately, the launcher wasn't working well on the Steam Deck and the Linux version would corrupt Steam, forcing you to reinstall SteamOS and set your Deck back to factory settings. This is a horrible bug, and while a hotfix was deployed from Valve to circumvent the issue, it was still there. Well, after an update yesterday, it sounds like we won't have to worry anymore!

There was a weekend update that was released yesterday with some new features and bug fixes, but under the "Most Notably" section, we see the specific Steam Deck fix for this issue. The text mentions a boot loop that was fixed, but by user reports and Valve's hotfix wording, it seems like there was more to it and would cause significant corruption. Either way, this should be fixed, though if you want to be as safe as possible, you can force the game to launch with Proton and shouldn't encounter any issues.

In addition, the update added some new filters to give you more information about the games you can select. You can see the player count and duration of each game you can choose, and even which party packs the games originally belonged to. There was also a bug that was fixed that would stop Windows users from launching the Megapicker after the first time, and Trivia Murder Party 2's party pack has been corrected.

The update also goes into what they are working on next, which includes localization with new language support, more filters, and even native controller support! Currently, there are some known issues being worked on as well including saved data not loading for certain games, Party Pack 1 and 2 not launching in full screen, and some games are launching into the Party Pack loading screen instead of directly into the game.

You can check out the announcement and changelog over on their Steam Community Post.

You can get the Jackbox Megapicker launcher over on Steam, and it is free (you do have to buy the Party Packs/games separately).
