While most people may never need to, there will sometimes be reasons to open up and tinker with your Steam Deck hardware. It may be upgrading the storage, adding new buttons to customize your Deck, or replacing a broken part. Valve worked hard to make the Deck easy to open and take apart if necessary, and to sell and distribute extra parts, Valve partnered up with iFixit. Now, iFixit is making it easier to give you all the tools needed to open up your Deck in one cheap package.

iFixitSteamDeckToolkit

To make everything easy for us, iFixit has created a new toolkit package filled with everything you will need to open up your Steam Deck. In it, you will be able to find:

  • Precision Bit Driver
  • Precision 4mm Screwdriver Bits (they are magnetic)
  • Spudger
  • Tweezers
  • Opening Picks
  • ESD-Safe Brush and Precision Cleaning Brushes
  • Anti-Static Wrist Strap

All of these tools are necessary to open up and take apart your Steam Deck. You can use this with all of the LCD and OLED models, and the entire toolkit is designed to all fit into a compact nylon bag that you can take wherever you go. And for the low price of $12.95, it's hard not to want to take advantage of this awesome deal.

iFixit also has all the parts you would need to repair or upgrade your Deck! They have parts and replacement guides for the LCD Steam Deck and OLED Steam Deck models. It's quite easy to take apart compared to other devices, but it still does require some technical knowhow and careful hands. I would definitely check out the replacement guides for instructions on how to do it.
