The last couple of PlayStation releases on PC have been great for the Steam Deck, and it looks like the trend is going to be continuing. Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, the new remaster for the 2017 release that was ported by Nixxes Software, has officially been given the Steam Deck Verified badge, noting this would be a "great experience" on the Deck.
While we haven't specifically tested it yet, there are reports on ProtonDB that the game is running well. It seems to be running alright at 30 FPS for the most part, with some dips into the 20s on the lowest settings. It also notes needing PSN account login, which would usually keep the game in the Playable camp due to needing to use the touch screen to log in, but it seems like this may have full support for the gamepad.
While I did have my doubts about how well it would run throughout the game, the Verified stamp does seem like a nice boost in confidence for how well it runs. The game is really fun, and I trust Nixxes Software's work for making PlayStation games run well on PC and the Steam Deck. They have also been updating it with Steam Input improvements, which is great.
I do still have doubts about how accurate the Steam Deck Verified/Playable system actually is, but it's still really nice to see!
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered can be purchased on Steam for $49.99, but you can also get the game on Fanatical for $42.49 with coupon code FANATICAL15.
