I do love some good tactical RPGs, but there aren't many that really catch my eye. I am a huge fan of cyberpunk or futuristic environments, and finding a tactical RPG that has the setting I love with engaging tactical gameplay. XCOM 2 held onto my heart for a long time, but it seems like Cyber Knights: Flashpoint could be the game that takes me away from it, especially after the newest update that comes with some nice Steam Deck improvements.

The new GENESIS update, which appears to be update number 100 for the title, includes a slate of new features and changes, as well as a revamp of the Steam Deck/gamepad. The team has smoothed out navigation, scrolling, and scene transitions, making it so the virtual keyboard now appears on its own. All of this makes using a controller with the game significantly more comfortable, and that's just fantastic. They are working on a controller configuration, too, so we will hopefully see this implemented in the next few days.

But that's not all! The biggest part of this update is the easy addition of full cRPG-style character customization. When you start a new game, you can choose your background, which has new stat bonuses and creates new trait options and attribute points to assign. This gives us a new way to customize our character when we start the game, and I love it. We also have new configurable keybindings for talents, reloading, and delaying orders.

You can check out the full changelog over on their Steam Community Post.

Cyber Knights: Flashpoint is on sale for the Summer Sale on Steam for $19.79. The game is currently rated Steam Deck Playable due to needing a community configuration, incorrect controller icons, needing to manually bring up the virtual keyboard, and small in-game text.
