Time for some sad, but not entirely unexpected, news. iFixit has confirmed that they are no longer receiving spare parts for the Steam Deck LCD models. I noticed a few days ago when a friend said getting hold of LCD spares was difficult when their Steam Deck developed a problem, and a quick check on iFixit showed that the parts to fix an LCD were much more expensive than those of the OLED model. Now we have confirmation from iFixit itself that Valve is no longer supplying them with parts for LCD models.
It’s not that we’re choosing to not stock these anymore. Unfortunately, Valve is just starting to sunset these parts. We’re looking at alternatives!

The good news here is that iFixit is looking at alternative ways to source replacement parts. The question is whether the quality will match up with the OEM parts that Valve has been supplying, and if costs will increase or not at a time when repairing tech is becoming increasingly preferable to just replacing it.
It is a shame that Valve made a big deal of how repairable the Steam Deck is, and yet discontinues spare and replacement parts for it only 4 years after launch, and just a few months after it discontinued the model late last year.
