The moment we've been waiting for has finally come. The Steam Frame's price and release date have officially been announced by Valve!

The Steam Frame will have two different models: a 1TB and 256GB storage option; both include a copy of Half-Life: Alyx.

• 1TB - $1,299/£1,089/1297 Euros
• 256GB - $1,059/£889/1049 Euros

Emails will go out from September 17th so users can submit an order; shipping will presumably follow shortly thereafter.

Much like the reservation system for the Steam Machine, you'll have to sign up for the Steam Frame's reservation list by September 17th at 10 am PT, and anyone who signs up afterward will be added to the back of the waitlist. Note: you can only subscribe to 1 model. Sign-ups are separated by each shipping region, and emails will start going out from the 17th of September onwards. After you receive your email, you will only have 72 hours to redeem.

The pricing might be on the high side, especially when comparing it to the likes of the $600 Meta Quest 3, no doubt the Steam Frame's main competitor, which matches its specs in many ways, though it lacks the software advantage of the Steam Frame, which should integrate into the Steam ecosystem well, along with all the benefits that it brings, such as PC VR games being playable on the headset itself.

It also does not come with a charger; you can buy your own along with your purchase for an additional price, as well as the accessories shown above. These don't appear to be sold separately at the moment either; you need to buy one with the device.
