A couple of weeks ago, we reported that Valve still planned to restock iFixit with replacement parts for the Steam Deck LCD, after fears that production of spare parts had been discontinued.
Well, the good news is that iFixit has indeed got replacement Steam Deck LCD batteries back in stock. The bad news is that they've come with a $50 price increase, costing $135 in the US and £125 in the UK.

This is, of course, for the official Valve battery; you can get an aftermarket battery for your Steam Deck LCD for the much lower price of $85, which likewise includes the Fix Kit with all the tools you'll need to disassemble your Steam Deck in order to remove the old battery and fit the new one.
On top of that, the Steam Deck OLED batteries are actually more affordable, coming in at $85. This is a little more on the crazy side, since the OLED batteries have a higher capacity than the LCD.
It's a real shame to see not only new technology become more unaffordable, but also old technology becoming less economical to repair; $135 just for a battery feels like a ridiculous price, especially as it's clear that manufacturers can produce them for far less, given that 3rd party alternatives are offered at a 40% lower price.
What do you think? Is $135 too much for a replacement battery for an outdated Steam Deck model?
