I remember when I first saw Mouse P.I. For Hire in its trailer, and I immediately figured out what they were going for. The team at Fumi Games is creating an engaging first-person shooter with amazing rubber-hose animation and lots of influence from the old Mickey Mouse episodes, and they have an incredible cast lineup. I had a blast when I got to play the game for the preview, and while I can say it was playable on the Steam Deck, it’s nice to see the team confirming it further with its specifications.

Yesterday, the team released the PC and console specifications for the game, giving us a look at what they are aiming for with resolution and framerate. In this case, we got a PC sheet and a specific console sheet, and on that console sheet, we have a slot for the Steam Deck.

According to this, they are estimating the default settings to run at 800p resolution and 40 FPS. Since we can change the screen to be at an 80Hz rate, this should keep the game feeling very smooth. And if there’s no upscaling involved, it will look fantastic. I also found it interesting that the size of the game is only 11 GB, which is less than every other console on the list. It does fall in line with the PC size, but I did find it interesting that the PC size of the game is less than all the consoles.

What’s more interesting is that the Switch 2 estimations are here as well, and I was surprised to see that the Switch 2 handheld is estimated to be running at 900p and 60 FPS in performance mode. The Switch 2 in handheld mode is not as powerful as the Steam Deck, so I would’ve expected it to be worse. However, the default settings on the Deck may be somewhere between Performance and Quality mode on the Switch 2, so we may be able to improve performance with a couple of tweaks. However, time will tell for sure. I also did find it odd that the Quality Mode for Switch 2 handheld is at 1260p resolution, which I think has to be a typo because the screen of the Switch 2 is 1080p.

I also found it interesting that the Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X both have slots as well, and while the Ally X is understandably significantly more powerful, the Xbox Ally is not. So, seeing it at 720p and 60 FPS compared to the Deck is a little odd. I wouldn’t be surprised that the default settings for both of those devices are different to some degree, but I look forward to finding out for myself.
