The Last Caretaker, a self-described seafaring first-person survival action-adventure game from Finnish studio Channel37, has unveiled its first gameplay footage.

Channel37 community manager Jack Pattillo, formerly of Rooster Teeth and Achievement Hunter fame, charismatically narrates the first gameplay footage for The Last Caretaker. The footage showcases the game's opening area: a derelict docking station where the titular robotic protagonist suddenly awakens from dormancy. Featuring deep survival mechanics and an air of mystery permeating the game world, this is certainly shaping up to be a game worth watching.
“This is my kind of game through and through,” says Jack. "A deep mystery, survival mechanics that make you think, and real choices that shape how you play. Deciding whether to burn fuel for survival or use it as a weapon, for example, these are the moments that make gameplay exciting. It’s the kind of game that keeps you on your toes, and I can’t wait to show more.”

Antti Ilvessuo, co-founder of Channel37, emphasized just how much more is still to come: “What Jack described is just a fraction of a fraction of what players can expect in The Last Caretaker. More systems, more resources, more fabrication, more weapons, more enemies — exploration above and below the sea. Human seeds, the Hall of Humanity, rockets, and the desperate fight to keep the mission alive. The list goes on … and there’s more to come!”
In addition to the already released gameplay footage, weekly livestreams are scheduled for every Wednesday at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 5 PM GMT on the Channel37 Twitch account. During these streams, more information in the form of commentary, new footage, and even more gameplay details is expected.
The Last Caretaker will launch into Early Access for PC later this summer on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
