The first update for Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days since its Early Access release brings in a number of changes, including Zombified Survivors, Curveballs, new throwables, door barging, and a new starting shelter.

Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days is a shelter survival game set in a zombie-infested Texas from PikPok. The game was released into early access on 9 April 2025, becoming one of Steam's top releases that month.
The new content update brings new features, allowing the stalwart survivors to get on their toes. There are some balance changes, along with adjustments and fixes to different aspects of the game to make it even smoother.
Life in the zombie apocalypse is not predictable. The shelters are affected by Curveballs (environmental and world events). However, the effect can be positive or negative. These events can take place during random or specific conditions, based on which district you’re presently in. They also depend on the shelter that you’re in.
Only a few can come out alive from Walton. On your travels, you'll come across survivors who were killed while out scavenging. Several new throwables are available to pick up in the recent update of Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days, and they just might save your life. Eliminate the enemies by throwing the bricks at them. Use pebbles to divert the attention of foes or lure any specific zombie from the group. Pipe Bombs can add a more explosive touch to your arsenal.
Run at an unlocked door fast enough to crash into it. If you want a quick escape, then the minor health loss and risk of injury are worth the price.
Survive at a new shelter, Stanton & Son's Meats, which is located in the lovely Seneca district. The area is available as a new scavenging location.
You can purchase Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days for $24.99 via Steam.
