I am a huge fan of Counter-Strike, and my 1,864 hours in Counter-Strike 2, or known before as CS-GO, help back that up. It's an extremely addictive game, and it has an insane community-driven marketplace to sell your in-game skins for with Steam store currency. There are skins that have been sold for over $500, which is nuts, but recently, a skin was sold for over $1 million dollars, and dBrand took this as a clear sign to create their own skin that you can put on different devices, including your Steam Deck.

The skin is called "Case Hardened" and sports a cool splattered design with bright, neon colors. It's a gorgeous design that I loved having in-game, so it's pretty cool to see it show up on physical devices. dBrand is releasing this for a ton of different devices, including phones, controllers, MacBooks, consoles, and of course, the good old Steam Deck:

On top of that, part of what made the skin so expensive in Counter-Strike was the addition of a Blue Gem sticker, which is very rare, so dBrand decided to incorporate something interesting. Whenever you purchase a skin, you have a 3.2% chance of it having its own Blue Gem. You can pay a significant 10x markup if you want it guaranteed to have the gem, but that could mean hundreds of dollars, which is a LOT for a skin.

You can pre-order the skin now, which will be shipped in July, for $34.99. You can also increase your Blue Gem odds to:

  • 9.3% for $94.37
  • 15% for $148.54
  • 100% for $500

While the normal 3.2% chance price at $34.99 is pretty alright, that $500 price tag is way too much, but you'd be guaranteed to get the Blue Gem. Even $148 for 15% is way too much, and that's just for a chance. The Blue Gem variation is nice, I will give it that, but it's very expensive.

I think it's really cool seeing Counter-Strike skins make their way over to the physical realm, though personally, I would love to see an Asiimov skin. I have always loved the AWP version of the skin, and I would love to see it adorned on my Steam Deck.
