It's pretty amazing seeing the handhelds that are coming out, both for handheld PCs and others, but the emulation scene has been crazy. I have been having a blast with my AYN Thor, with the dual-screen OLED screens being a joy to emulate with, but Anbernic's upcoming RG DS looks to be another great one. The RG DS, which will be released for a price tag coming in under $100, looks fantastic, and just recently, some new screenshots of the handheld surfaced on Reddit comparing its size to a Nintendo DS to show the differences.

The pictures were posted on the SBCGaming Reddit by user Qinki001, who claims they were sourced from Anbernic's official QQ chat group. As I don't personally use QQ, I have not been able to verify it for myself yet, so take these images with a grain of salt. Still, I want to highlight them regardless, since it does give some interesting details about the device.

In the first set of pictures above, we see the screen and size of the devices side by side compared to the Nintendo DSi and DSi XL (also known as the DSi LL). We can see the diagonal screen length of each compared, with the RG DS coming in at 4 inches diagonally, while the DSi XL is 4.2, and DSi is 3.25. It also shows that the length and height of the RG DS will be about the same as the DSi XL, while being decently larger than the normal DSi.

It's interesting to see, though I am interested in the depth of the device. A similar size to the DSi XL is pretty fantastic, but it has to be a little thicker due to the extras it has compared to Nintendo's handhelds.

In the second set of pictures, we can see the two devices inside each other to show more specific differences between them. While the height of the DSi to the RG DS is obvious, there are some interesting observations with the DSi XL. In this view, it looks like the DSi XL is actually a little longer than the RG DS, with the DPad and ABXY buttons looking more pronounced than the RG DS. Anbernic's buttons do pop out, as we saw in their prototype gameplay demo, but the DS buttons look a bit better.

Still, it's nice to see these comparisons, especially if they are real. It gives a better idea on how big the RG DS is and exactly what the screen size is. I am excited to see more, and can't wait for the next announcement from Anbernic directly!
