People are starting to get their Steam Machines, and seeing the reactions has been quite exciting. The prospect of bringing PC gaming into other parts of the house for a console-like experience is wonderful, and it’s great to see so many people enjoying it from a device that a lot were worried about. Yesterday, Valve provided an update on the Machine, its reservation system, and FSR 4.1 support, which is making me even more excited to receive my Machine soon.

The new post from Valve focuses on providing updates on the reservation queue and for the people who are on the waitlist. They have been sending orders out every day and expect to be completely done with the reservation queue by the end of this year. Each region and their queues/waitlists are moving at different speeds, but while the reservation queue will be done by the end of this year, those on the waitlist may need to wait until 2027 to get their device.

They also reiterated that nobody on the waitlist is being placed ahead of those who are already in the reservation queue. Valve is actively moving people from the waitlist into the queue, but those who were already in the queue will get their order emails first. If people were originally on the waitlist and receiving their order emails, it means that the reservation queue orders have already gone out.

On top of that, Valve has provided two quick updates for the Steam Machine in general. They mentioned that FSR 4.1 is now available to use via Proton Experimental with games that support swapping, and the CAD files for the Steam Machine are now up. The CAD files are 3D models of the Machine; they can help people create skins, faceplates, and cases easily by comparing their estimates with a model.

It’s great to get the update and reassurance from Valve, and I’m excited to see more people getting the Steam Machine and hearing their thoughts on it. Mine should be arriving this week, and you can expect a full review, as well as performance analysis on the Games we review moving forward.
