It feels like there’s something new every day now that is slowly making it seem like the Steam Controller is around the corner. I, for one, can’t wait, and I can see it being the main controller I use for gaming everywhere. However, there is a new leak that may have revealed the price of the controller, and while it’s a little more than I expected, I think it’ll be worth it.

Not long ago, a video was accidentally posted early by YouTuber TechyTalk. The video claimed to be a Steam Controller review, and while it was taken down very quickly, it didn’t stop people from seeing it and capturing it. Now, I thought it was fake at first, but after watching the video, that’s clearly the Steam Controller. And towards the end of the video, the reviewer reveals the price tag: $99.
So based on this, the Steam Controller will be $99. Since it hasn’t been announced yet, take this rumor with a grain of salt. However, the controller has a fantastic amount of features and great hardware that do justify the price, even if it is higher than I was expecting. The TMR joysticks mean little to no stick drift and long lifespan, high-definition rumble, grip-enabled gyro, and the incredible layout with dual trackpads. And of course, we can use it with Steam Input to customize and map whatever controls we want for each game. It is on the expensive side, but it’s hard not to see it as a good deal regardless.
All of this just keeps compounding to make it feel like the controller is coming soon, and I can’t wait for an official announcement from Valve.
