Moonlighter 2 is one of the few early access games out right now that has really captivated me. It's a fantastic follow-up to the original, and as I mentioned in my review, I love the more roguelike focus in both dungeon crawling and shopkeeping. It's a great start, and it just had its latest patch that includes a couple of nice improvements for the Steam Deck.

Moonlighter 2

In the new patch, we see a couple of big changes that help performance and playability on the Steam Deck. There have been some adjustments to the controls, performance, and menus to be more Deck-friendly right now, as well as some updates to the default settings to use FSR 3 at Quality mode instead of Balanced. We also have some unnecessary data cleaned up to reduce stuttering, which is another nice touch.

I went back and checked the game out after this update, and while Quality mode does look better, there are still a couple of issues. Using the menu still bottlenecks and brings down the framerate from 60 FPS to 40, and this extended to running around the town. Setting the limit to 40 should fix all of this, but I still prefer how it looks with FXAA anti-aliasing over FSR 3 upscaling.

On top of that, we have some balance changes to make The Herald fight feel faster, there are some new notifications for bringing relics from the shop into the dungeon and that the shop can't open at night, you can now see vouchers you own while buying cosmetics, and the roll should feel more responsive with a delay that has been reduced to make inputs feel snappier.
