Frontier has been one of the greatest developers when it comes to management simulators, especially if you’re looking to build up amusement parks or zoos. Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo have both been fantastic, so I was extremely excited when Planet Zoo 2 was announced. I was hoping we would be able to play it on the Steam Deck, and now, I’m even more hopeful.

Earlier today, Planet Zoo 2 got the Steam Deck Verified badge. This badge notes that Valve believes this is a “great experience” on the Deck. Specifically, the notes indicate that the default controller configuration and graphics configuration both perform well, show all the correct controller icons, and the in-game text is legible. It also knows that the first-time setup will require an active Internet connection, but you should be able to play it without Internet after that.
Now, the Verified system isn’t always the most accurate, as we have seen with Halo: Campaign Evolved and Disgaea Mayhem, but it’s still awesome to see. I’m hoping this means that Frontier will be pushing optimization to make sure it’ll be playable on the go. I was a little worried, given the minimum system requirements being significantly higher than what the Deck can handle, but I do have hope.

Planet Zoo 2 can be pre-purchased for $49.99 on Steam ahead of its October 13th release date.
