Some of my favorite games to play on the Steam Deck come from developer/publisher New Blood Interactive. There’s something special about the games they make that just feels so unique and stylized, while being so great to play. Gloomwood is one of those awesome games. The stealth-heavy game is one of my favorite immersive simulators that I’ve played recently, even if it isn’t perfect on the Steam Deck. But thanks to a recent post, it seems like that’s about to change.

In a post made by publisher New Blood Interactive on Twitter/X, they confirmed that a new build of Gloomwood with rebindable controller support has been submitted to Valve for Steam Deck Verification. This would ultimately fix the one big problem with it when playing on the Steam Deck, and the one issue stopping it from the green checkmark:
On top of that, the developer of Gloomwood, Dillon Rogers, posted on Twitter/X giving a little more detail into the gamepad support:
We've been putting a lot of work into Gloomwood's gamepad support - ensuring you can rebind individual commands, weapons, see the correct bindings when tutorials come up, ect.
You can even use the stick pressure to sneak vs. walk and it'll factor the footstep loudness.

This should make the game significantly easier to play on the Deck. It already performs quite well and feels like a perfect fit for the device, but having gamepad support directly should be even more helpful. There's no timeframe provided for when this update will be released, but that will ultimately make Gloomwood a must-have game on the Deck, and it will have its glorious Verified badge.
Gloomwood can be purchased for $19.99 on Steam.
