I may not be a huge fan of racing games, but I am extremely excited for Forza Horizon 6. Unlike other games in the series, this one takes place in Japan, and it looks absolutely gorgeous. And if it’s anything like the previous games in the series, it’s going to be a fantastic experience. Since the spec sheet was released, there has been a lot of speculation on how well the game could run on the Steam Deck, and while we will be able to go into it in a few days, it seems to have just gotten Valve’s seal of approval.

Not long ago, the game got the Steam Deck Verified badge. Specifically, Valve has said the default community controller and graphical configuration work well, the game shows the correct controller, icons, and the in-game text is legible. They also mentioned that the game’s first time set up will require an internet connection, but you should be able to play offline afterward.
The Verified system isn’t the most trustworthy, but I still have hope. The fact that Xbox brought it up so early and on their spec sheet makes me feel a little more confident that they have worked hard to optimize it for handhelds. Knowing that they also have their own Xbox Ally handhelds, and the low end is very similar to the Steam Deck in performance, it seems very likely that most games they release should be playable on the Deck.
I look forward to being able to talk more about how it is on the Steam Deck in a couple of days, but for now, it’s nice to see the game having that green checkmark.

Forza Horizon 6 can be pre-purchased on Steam for $69.99 ahead of its May 19th release date. You can also get the Premium Edition and play the game early.
