Yars Rising is a 2D science fiction metroidvania based on one of Atari's best-selling classic franchises. WayForward and Atari unveiled the official story trailer for the game today.

Yars Rising will be available for PC via Steam on September 10, 2024, and this trailer gives players a sneak peek at the story, characters, and anime-inspired environment they can expect to explore.

The game's newest story trailer introduces players to Emi, a hacker whose mission takes a dangerous turn. After completing her mission to breach Qotech's servers, Emi finds herself entangled in a perilous struggle as she is captured and pulled into the depths of the company's headquarters. Watch as Emi faces hostile sentinels, laser defenses, and strange experiments on her terrifying quest to discover powerful augments and biohacks.

Emi will need to rely on her hacking abilities to break free from captivity as her fight gets fiercer. She finds hidden augments that increase her abilities and unlock previously inaccessible areas through communicating with other hackers. The teaser gives away some of the story's major points, including Emi's quest to discover the truth about Qotech's sinister secret and her surprising bond with an extraterrestrial civilization. The pressure is on Emi to reveal Qotech's real goal and stop a disaster before it happens.

Bringing together elements from the past, present, and future, Yars Rising is the newest entry in the Yars universe. The game aims to present a fresh spin on Metroidvania gameplay by enhancing exploration and story progression through stealth and hacking-based sequences.
