It feels like an age since we last had a proper Nintendo Direct, or maybe the recent ones have just been erased from my memory due to being disappointing? Regardless, we're in for another round of gaming news today, with 45 minutes of primarily Nintendo Switch 2 news, but there were some games for the original Switch thrown in too.

Amazingly, I don't think I was spoiled about any of the announcements ahead of time, so I was able to fully enjoy everything that was revealed.

Monster Hunter Wilds Confirmed for Switch 2 - Coming December 4th, 2026

We've heard about this one for a while, but we've finally had confirmation that Monster Hunter Wilds is coming to the Switch 2 this December. With support for local play. The Ascendance expansion is also due for the system in 2027.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation Trailer Shown - Coming April 8th, 2027

Final Fantasy VII Revelation was confirmed back at Summer Game Fest for the Switch 2, but we got a little further look at it today.

Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion is Out Now

If you wanted to relive the events before Final Fantasy VII, you now can, as Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is out now on Switch 2!

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity - Definitive Edition - Coming February 25th, 2027

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Definitive Edition offers Switch 2 enhancements for the game, such as additional enemies on screen and 60 FPS battles. You'll be able to upgrade from the Switch 1 version for a lower cost, and game saves can be transferred.

Meccha Chameleon is Out Now on Switch 2

The viral sensation is out now on Switch 2; try to camouflage with the environment as hunters try to pick off chameleons, one by one.

Pokemon Pokopia's 2nd DLC Will Add Accessories to the Game

We got a glimpse of what Part 2 of the Pokemon Pokopia Expansion Pass will include; it mainly looks like accessories and possibly some decorative items will be added, along with a few additional Pokemon.

Star Fox Free Battle Mode Update Adds Split-Screen Battle, 4v4 Online Battles and 3 New Stages - Coming September 29th

Star Fox just got a primarily multiplayer update that adds 4 player split-screen battles, plus the ability to dive into 4v4 online battles with split-screen support. The update also adds 3 new stages with unique objectives.

Star Fox Adventures (GameCube) is Out Now on NSO

In somewhat of a surprise, we also got the release of Star Fox Adventures onto the Nintendo Switch Online GameCube Classics service.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered Shown for Switch 2 - Coming September 29th

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is almost here, and we got a look at how the game runs on the Switch 2, and it seems to be holding up reasonably well.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Gameplay Trailer Revealed - Releasing in 2027

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II was also shown at the event; while it looks decent, it seems to perform a little bit worse than The Witcher 3: Remastered did, so hopefully this one will be playing well by its release next year.

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Gets Brief Gameplay Shown - Launches September 17th

We got another, rather brief look at Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave. Considering the game launches so soon, it feels like we've barely seen anything of it, hopefully that isn't a sign that Nintendo is nervous about how it will be received.

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam Launches December 10th on Switch and Switch 2

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam finally got a proper trailer and release date, and a rather curious narration. But I love the Layton games, and I'm very excited to dive into this one over the Winter.

Yo-Kai Watch 2: Haunted Domain is in Development

I know nothing of Yo-Kai Watch, but Yo-Kai Watch 2 is apparently confirmed to be in development, although we have no further details at this time.

Pikmin 4 is Getting a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - November 12th, 2026

This new Nintendo Switch 2 Edition adds voice commands for Oatchi through the Switch 2 microphone, as well as a new Dandori Academy mode with time trial challenges across 72 stages.

Onyx: The Dark Grip is a New Horror Experience - Coming Exclusively to Switch 2 in 2027

Onyx: The Dark Grip looks to be a unique horror experience where *you* are the supernatural presence trying to keep the protagonist alive. Use touch controls, motion controls, and a variety of other methods to interact with the world and keep them alive.

More Footage of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Coming December 3rd, 2026

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 for Switch 2 was confirmed back in the June Direct, but we got a slightly more focused look at the game today, including a brand new protagonist, Shimmer.

Mario Kart World is getting a free update that adds 10 SNES courses and 2 Knockout Tour Routes. It's still not enough to dethrone Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for me, but it's good that they're adding more content, and for free at that!

Yu-Gi-Oh! TAG FORCE GX Launches on Switch and Switch 2 on February 16th

It's a Yu-Gi-Oh! game! I don't know Yu-Gi-Oh, but this is apparently a remake of Yu-Gi-Oh! Tag Force 3, if that means anything to you.

While we might be well acquainted with the story of Romancing SaGa 3 from previous trailers, we got a look at the gameplay in this latest video.

Persona 4 Revival Confirmed for Switch 2 - Launches 20th May 2027

Persona 4 Revival got confirmed for the Switch 2 during the Direct, and it's launching on 20th May 2027.

Persona 6 Also Confirmed for Switch 2

Persona 6 was also briefly confirmed with a similar teaser to how it was announced for Xbox.

Kirby and the World Beyond, an Open World Kirby Game Announced - Spring 2027

Kirby and the World Beyond was announced at the end of the Direct. Many were hoping for a new 3D Mario game, but I suppose a 3D Kirby game is a decent second place. You won't have long to wait either, as it's due to release in Spring 2027.

That's all for this Nintendo Direct. What games are you looking forward to playing? Professor Layton I'm very excited for, but I will admit an open-world Kirby game has me intrigued.
