Dragon Quest 7 Remake Announced At Nintendo Direct, And It's Rated Steam Deck Playable 5 Months Before Release

The Nintendo Direct was pretty amazing, and announced some huge games that are coming out to both PC and Nintendo Switch 2. One of the surprise announcements for me was Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, a remake of the PS1 title originally released in 2000. It did get a remake for the 3DS over 10 years later, but this is definitely a major step up in terms of visuals and has a completely reworked story. It looks awesome, and for those who want to play on the Steam Deck, there may be some hope here.

The game is not just coming to Switch 2, but also PC on Steam. With the store page going live, Valve also bequiethed it a Steam Deck rating, marking it as Playable. The only issue keeping it from Verified is small text size, but other than that, it should be good to go.

While the rating from Valve doesn't signify how well the game should run, looking at the minimum spec requirements does give us an idea. The Steam Deck should easily hit the minimum requirements across the board, and while the recommended is asking for a slightly more powerful GPU, the Deck should be able to handle everything else listed. Still, it hits the minimum requirements easily, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined can be pre-purchased ahead of its February 5th, 2026 release date for $59.99. There's also a deluxe edition which unlocks the game two days early and comes with additional DLC!
