Well, there aren’t many games that invoke the same feelings that the 3D Mario games give me, Demon Tides was actually one of them. Just like the more recent 3D Super Mario games, like Super Mario Odyssey, we run around a big world and have to navigate through obstacles using an assortment of different platforming moves. However, unlike the Mario games, we can actually customize our move set, changing it based on the different equipment we have. It’s fantastic, can completely change how we tackle different levels, and it almost always feels great. The game also just got a huge new update, filled with brand new game modes, bug fixes, and some fixes for the Steam Deck.

Specifically, the new update fixed some UI and photo issues on the Deck. Taking photos while on the Steam Deck no longer displays the UI, and the directory prompt for photos has been removed. The main menu prompt will also no longer disappear in the GUI when playing on the Deck. These are small fixes, but welcome ones.
As for the rest of the update, we have a couple of brand new game modes. New Game+ has been added, so you can reset the story while keeping all of your unlocks, and Randomizer Mode has been added! This mode, basically randomizes all items, shop, selections, enemy types, and even biomes. On top of that, there is a special HEX mode where everything you pick up automatically gets equipped, and you cannot change it. They should add a good chunk of replayability and challenge to the game.
There are a ton of fixes across the board, and you can check them all out on the 1.1 patch notes, which are available on their website.

Demon Tides is available for $24.99 on Steam and is rated Steam Deck Verified.
