AYANEO has made a somewhat vague announcement that its products will be seeing a price increase.

The company sent an email alerting customers that “many products” will see a price increase “soon.” No further details were provided regarding which products will be affected or when the increases will take place. The email concludes by urging customers to purchase any desired handhelds as soon as possible.

The email also includes specific product availability updates that coincide with the price increases, though they do not appear to be directly related. It also notes that AYANEO’s promotion, which offered a free AYANEO Pocket Mini with all purchases of the Pocket S Mini, will end on Thursday, April 2.

AYANEO Product Availability Announcements

  • Pocket VERT and Pocket S Mini — Only limited stock remains. Availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Pocket DS — Currently in pre-order, with only around 200 units available in this batch. Future production remains uncertain once sold out.
  • Pocket FIT G3 Gen 3 and Pocket FIT 8Elite — These models will be relaunched in phases after the current Pocket FIT 8Elite shipments are completed.
  • KONKR FIT — If you haven’t placed your order yet, now is the time. Production will be limited and based on actual order volume.
  • Pocket S Mini promotion (Free Pocket AIR Mini) - officially ends on April 1st. There are only 4 days remaining to take advantage of this offer—don’t miss your chance to get the bonus while it lasts.

While retro handhelds have also been impacted by ongoing RAM and component shortages, driven in part by increased demand from AI-focused industries, many manufacturers have largely avoided sweeping price hikes. Companies like Retroid and AYN have raised prices on select handhelds, but others such as Anbernic, Miyoo, and MANGMI have remained quiet on any pricing changes.

With such a steady stream of new releases from these companies, any price adjustments may be baked into newer products rather than applied retroactively. For instance, the RG Vita and RG Vita Pro from Anbernic are among the company’s latest handhelds, and their pricing may already reflect slightly higher component costs.

AYANEO has also developed a reputation for higher-priced products, largely due to its tendency to prioritize powerful chipsets. The AYANEO Pocket DMG, for example, features a Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 chipset, which is powerful enough to emulate PlayStation 2 and even some Nintendo Switch titles, despite its Game Boy–inspired design tailored more toward classic Game Boy and Game Boy Color experiences. The company has also released a more direct and affordable alternative in the AYANEO Pocket VERT.

As RAM shortages and rising component costs continue, companies remain uncertain about the long-term impact on pricing. AYANEO had largely avoided addressing this directly until now, and with this latest vague announcement, consumers are still left wondering how it will ultimately affect their wallets.

If you would like to purchase any AYANEO products before the aforementioned price increase, you can do so directly on their store.
