Retroid Announces Their First True Dual-Screen Handheld

Retroid has been surprising me with their recent handheld releases. The Retroid Pocket 6 has been an amazing device with great power for a great price, and I’ve been quite excited to see what they will do next. Now, they have officially announced their next handheld, and it could be one of their best ones yet.

The Retroid Pocket Duo was announced yesterday, and I couldn’t be more excited. Retroid is creating a true dual-screen handheld, something they haven’t done yet. They have created add-ons for their previous handhelds to attach another screen, but this is the first time that they’re actually making one solid device with two screens embedded.

Outside of the initial teaser, they also revealed that both screens will be OLED, and that the top screen will have a 16:9 aspect ratio, while the bottom screen will have a 4:3 aspect ratio.  However, outside of those, not much has been revealed yet. I expect more details to come out each day as we near a release announcement, but I couldn’t be more excited to see what else they have cooking up for this device.

The AYN Thor has been my go to Android handheld for quite some time, and I love how great it is for dual-screen emulation. It’s exciting to see a new competitor on the horizon, I’m curious how it will change up the landscape. Will it be more powerful? Will it have different features? Will it be cheaper? Time will tell, but I can’t wait to see more of the Retroid Pocket Duo.
