The Xbox Games Showcase is here! It's the biggest event of the year for Xbox players, and given the strategy Xbox is adopting these days, it's a pretty huge day for PC players too!

Here's a round-up of all the PC games that were shown during the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 today! There's plenty to get into, so let's just get straight to it!

Table of Contents

First Look at the Campaign of Call of Duty Black Ops 6, Launches October 25th

The Xbox Games Showcase starts off with a first look at the Campaign mode of Call of Duty Black Ops 6, there's a full Direct for BLOPS 6 after the main showcase.

DOOM: The Dark Ages Gets a Trailer, Coming in 2025

It looks like business as usual for the next iteration of DOOM, with more fast-paced hack'n'slash action mixed with running'n'gunning, and probably some dismemberment too.

State of Decay 3 Cinematic Shown, But Still No Release Date

Well... Slightly disappointing this one, State of Decay 3 was shown, but it was all cinematics, and there's no release date still, even though the game was announced years ago.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Revealed, It Looks... Strange?

Enter the world of Thedas, a vibrant land of rugged wilderness, treacherous labyrinths, and glittering cities – steeped in savage combat and secret magics. Now, the fate of this world teeters on a knife's edge.

I'll admit, I totally thought this was a MOBA of some kind, or at least multiplayer given the trailer, but apparently no, it's just a single-player game... I still don't know what's going on with this Dragon Age to be honest, it doesn't look anything like what I remember...

First Look at Starfield Shattered Space, Coming 2024. Plus New Content is Available Now for Starfield via the Creator's Club

Starfield's Shattered Space expansion still has the vague 2024 release date, but we got to see some footage of what the expansion contains. We're also getting new content for Starfield today, including the introduction of the Creator's Club.

Fallout 76 is Getting a Map Expansion on June 12th, Ability to Play as a Ghoul in 2025

If you're still playing Fallout 76 (it's not terrible these days), then you might like to know that the game is getting a map update, as well as some new content. They're also adding the ability to play as a Ghoul at some point in 2025, probably as a result of the success of the TV show.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Coming 2025

Lead the members of Expedition 33 on their quest to destroy the Paintress so that she can never paint death again. Explore a world of wonders inspired by Belle Époque France and battle unique enemies in this turn-based RPG with real-time mechanics.

And by real-time mechanics, I think they mean quick-time events judging by the trailer.

South of Midnight Coming 2025, Here's Some Gameplay!

South of Midnight is a new action-adventure from Compulsion Games. Explore the mythos and confront mysterious creatures of the Deep South in this modern folktale while learning to weave an ancient power to surmount obstacles and face the pain haunting your hometown.

This one is quite pretty, and has a unique "stop-motion" feel to the animation.

World of Warcraft: The War Within Expansion, August 26th (Not On Steam)

World of Warcraft is getting a new expansion, it's not on Steam. Nothing new has happened, moving along...

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Gets a New Trailer

I was hoping for some release date here, but we did get some gameplay footage for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, so that's cool!

Sea of Thieves Getting New Content in Season 13, July 25th

Sea of Thieves is carrying on with its live service support, this time it looks like a new ship to sail is finally being added. We've been stuck with the same 3 ships since the game's launch, but a new, more powerful ship looks like it might be up for grabs when Season 13 hits on July 25th.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn Gets New Trailer, Coming July 18th

From games studio A44, makers of Ashen comes an explosive Souls-lite, where Gods and guns collide in a battle for the future of humanity.

The Door to the Great Below has been opened unleashing the Gods and their armies of the Dead. The lands of Kian are besieged, and the city of Dawn is on the brink of destruction. It’s time for the Coalition army to fight back.

I hadn't heard of a Souls-lite before, but I'm guessing it's similar to a Souls-"like", but where you can get bonked on the head and don't immediately perish.

Age of Mythology: Retold Gameplay Footage, Coming September 4th

We don't hear too much RTS news these days, so it's good to see an RTS get some time in the limelight, even if it is only a remake of an older title. Age of Mythology Retold is less than 3 months away and aims to bring the game to a newer audience, much like the previous Age of Empires remakes.

Perfect Dark Gameplay Shown, No Release Date Still

I wasn't expecting to see Perfect Dark at the event today, as we've heard rumors that development has not been going well over the past year, but we got to see actual gameplay, and it's looking quite nice in my opinion. Sadly there's no release date, so we'd be lucky to see this one before the end of 2025.

Diablo IV Vessel of Hatred Adds a New Class, Region, and Story, this October 8th

I'm not a Diablo fan, I've never played it, but the trailer above was sufficiently creepy and reinforced why I don't like Diablo. But if you are a Diablo fan, you'll be happy to hear new content is coming this October, with creepy vibes!

Fable Locks in a 2025 Release Date, New Footage Shown

Fable did its thing again where a guy monologues in his house, we got to see a bit more of the game though. The trailer said in-game footage, it's hard to determine whether they truly meant in-game or in-engine, but we'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

FragPunk Aims to Switch Up the 5v5 Hero Shooter Genre with Mid-Match Rule Changing

I was ready to throw my keyboard out of the window when I saw this game appear. Yet another 5v5 Hero Shooter, I thought. I still haven't recovered from the disappointment that was Concord's reveal last week. Fortunately, FragPunk throws in some twists, including cards that you can play which change the game rules themselves, giving you the advantage, or simply switching things up to keep them fresh mid-match. It's also Free 2 Play, which all Hero Shooters should be... Looking at you Concord.

Winter Burrow is Coming Early 2025

Winter Burrow is a cozy woodland survival game about a mouse returning home to restore their childhood burrow. Explore, gather resources, craft, knit warm sweaters, bake pies, and meet the locals.

It gave me Klei (Don't Starve) vibes when I watched it, so I was surprised to see it wasn't them, but the game does look quite nice!

New Footage for Mixtape Shown, Launching 2025

On their last night of high school, three friends embark on one more adventure together. Play through a mixtape of memories, set to the soundtrack of a generation.

Play back through high school memories in Mixtape, with a suitable soundtrack to boot, featuring popular artists of yesteryear.

Microsoft Flight Simulator "2024" Gets November 19th Release Date

I feel like we have seen a lot of this trailer before, but it basically reiterates that MS Flight Sim is getting a career mode, with multiple paths for you to take, including commercial flights, search and rescue, and wildfire fighting.

The Elder Scrolls Online is Offering the Chance to Play All DLC for Free Until June 19th

If you want to check out TES:O, then now is the time. The game is offering players the chance to become an ESO Plus member for free until June 19th, during which time, you can play the game and all its DLC expansions.

Life Is Strange: Double Exposure, Coming October 29th

The original protagonist of Life is Strange is back in Life is Strange: Double Exposure. Using her ability to shift between parallel universes, Max will embark on an adventure to solve and prevent the murder of her friend.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Set for 2024 Release, Story Trailer Released

We got a look at some cinematics and gameplay of Indiana Jones: The Great Circle at the Xbox Games Showcase. I think some of the wit/humor is still from 50 years ago, but if you like that kind of thing, you'll probably enjoy it here.

WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers Announced, Again. But not for Steam

Titled as an announcement trailer, but the game was revealed years ago, although this time it appears like it may be an Xbox exclusive. Although the trailer says it's coming to PC, it might only be for the Xbox/Microsoft Store, as there's no mention of Steam and I can't find a Steam page for this one.

Avowed is Still Coming in 2024, Story Trailer Shown

Avowed... I think this is a game people still care about. I feel like this was announced many years ago, but it is still due out this year, despite us not knowing all that much about it.

You are the envoy of Aedyr, a distant land, sent to investigate rumors of a spreading plague throughout the Living Lands - an island full of mysteries and secrets, danger and adventure, choices and consequences, and untamed wilderness.

Atomfall, Coming 2025, Another One Not on Steam.

This evoked some Everybody's Gone to the Rapture vibes, but I just think it was because it was slightly eerie and British. People are saying it's a British version of Fallout, but we'll see how it all pans out.

Right now this game isn't confirmed for Steam, it's only confirmed as a Game Pass release, but as it was just revealed, it's possible the Steam page isn't up yet. Similar situation as WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers.

More Footage of Assassin's Creed Shadows Shown, Coming November 15th

Again, another one not coming to Steam, but it's a big enough release that we'll mention it here. And I'm sure we'll find a way to get it working through Ubisoft Connect, provided the system requirements aren't beyond the Steam Deck.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl Coming September 5th

Discover the vast Chornobyl Exclusion Zone full of dangerous enemies, deadly anomalies, and powerful artifacts. Unveil your own epic story as you make your way to the Heart of Chornobyl. Make your choices wisely, as they will determine your fate in the end.

Gears of War: E-Day Announced, The Origin Story

Our main man Marcus is back, being a manly man all day long, just look at him, so manly... Wow...

Actually, Marcus isn't quite "back", as this is the origin story for the franchise, so technically, he was "back" in the original Gears of War, and this is the first time we've ever seen him...

They even threw in some musical cues from "Mad World", a song featured in a trailer for the original Gears of War, as long as my ears aren't failing me.

Conclusion:

That's all for the Xbox Games Showcase this year, quite a nice surprise that exclusives weren't really a priority here and that almost all the games announced are available on Steam, bar World of Warcraft and a couple of games that look to be Game Pass focused. And of course Assassin's Creed Shadows.

I hope you found this round-up article helpful, let us know if there's anything specific that was shown at the Xbox Games Showcase that you enjoyed seeing!
