Earlier today, I covered a possible update that Valve would start selling refurbished Steam Deck OLED models based on an update uncovered on SteamDB. I guessed that this would not only be the case due to the holidays and Steam Winter Sale coming up, but I also took a jab at the pricing of what they would be. And it seems like I am correct on both fronts!

Starting today, Valve is selling refurbished versions of their 512GB and 1TB Steam Deck OLED models. These are units that a customer has bought and returned, for one reason or another, but have been cleaned up and re-tested by Valve to ensure they are still working in good condition. There may be some minor cosmetic defects, but each device ships with a warranty and should still work the same as a new unit. For both of these models, you will pay around 20% off the normal price:

  • 512GB - $439
  • 1TB - $519

Considering how wonderful the device is, this is a steal. $439 for an OLED Steam Deck is phenomenal, especially if you aren't getting into handheld gaming yet. I can't recommend the device enough, and with the pricing, Valve's continued support, Proton's growth, and Linux as an OS, this may be the best way to experience PC gaming on the go.

The only drawback is that these refurbished models are only available in the US, Canada, UK, and EU. This was confirmed in a post made by the official Steam Deck account on Twitter/X, where they mention the units are on sale only for those four countries. I tried using a VPN in Australia to see if they would be purchasable there to confirm, and they didn't even show up as options. Since shipping lines are open, I am a little shocked to see this restriction, but it doesn't change how good of a deal it is.

You can purchase the refurbished models of the OLED Steam Deck on Steam.
