The Iron Oath is an awesome tactical RPG that I constantly find myself checking out and wanting to play. While it does run on the Steam Deck quite well, which we noted in our review, it doesn't feel as great to use with a gamepad due to a lack of controller support. It seems as though this support shall be coming soon though, and yesterday's newest update confirms it!
The Iron Oath's update yesterday added in 4 quests and fixed some issues, but underneath that, we have a couple of paragraphs talking about what's coming next. Specifically, they mention people asking about controller and Steam Deck support. While they don't have an exact date in mind, they do mention that they are looking to get it completed in the near future once the upcoming content updates are pushed out.
While I would have loved a more concrete date for the support, I am just happy that it is being recognized and will happen. The game is a ton of fun, and I really look forward to playing this more wherever I go.
You can check out the changelog from their Steam Community Post.
You can get The Iron Oath on Steam for $18.74 during the Steam Spring Sale. It is currently rated Steam Deck Playable due to small text, sometimes showing incorrect controller icons, and needing a community controller configuration.
