The very well-received city builder Against the Storm is finally reaching its 1.0 release next month when it leaves early access. Originally released last November, the game has received a very positive reception from its audience on Steam, garnering a 95% Positive rating at the time of writing this article.
And that's not all! With the full release, the game is getting a new game mode called "Queen's Hand." This mode is designed to challenge even the most experienced players, requiring them to complete a difficult objective in a relatively short period. If you fail, any progress is wiped, meaning there is, in effect, permadeath. In a traditional game of Against the Storm, players are tasked with creating an ever-expanding network of cities, with each city posing new and unusual challenges, so this new mode should create some interesting ways to experience the game.
Against the Storm is available now on Steam, currently in Early Access, for $30. It holds a "Playable" rating on Valve's Steam Deck compatibility list for sometimes showing non-Steam-Deck controller icons. The game is reported to run decently well on the Steam Deck.
Against the Storm is also launching on PC Game Pass when it does hit its 1.0 release next month, so cloud streaming should be an option, as well as natively installing if you have Windows OS installed on your handheld.
