Steam, the juggernaut we all know and love, has yet again smashed reasonable expectations and records by reaching 40 million concurrent players recently. I have no doubt everyone reading played a part in this monumental achievement, so a round of applause to us, I guess?

That's not to say all 40 million were playing games, mind, but it's still an unfathomable amount of people, 12,727,475 to be precise, were with Counter-Strike 2, Monster Hunter Wilds, PUBG: Battlegrounds, Dota 2, and Marvel Rivals, counting for just over a third of that amount themselves. The other 27,272,525? Must've been browsing the ever-burgeoning store, of course.
Still, it wasn't just a phenomenal weekend for the Steam platform, with the newly-released Monster Hunter Wilds also hitting an incredible near 1.4 million players, barely 24 hours after release - despite the reported stability issues and the lack of Steam Deck support. A huge success, to be sure, and we here at SteamDeckHQ are enamoured by it… even with the Mixed review rating, with 57% of all reviews on the platform being positive.

It's fair to say that Steam is still a behemoth on the rise that has no intention of being stopped. It was only a few months ago, back in December, when 39 million concurrent players were reached (38 million had been reached in September, and 37 million had been reached a mere month prior), and to surpass that so quickly is truly remarkable. Seemingly incapable of slowing down, and why should they? I'll no doubt be back in a few months to report the next milestone, so I'll see you then!
