Steam Deck Folio Looks Like The Best Way To Protect Your Deck While Traveling

As someone who travels all the time, there is one thing I have always cared a lot about protecting my Steam Deck. I want to make sure it isn't damaged when I put it in my backpack, which usually has other devices in it, a portable monitor, a battery pack, and cables. It can be a bit nerve-wracking, so I am always looking out for new products I can check out that might protect my Steam Deck better, and it looks like I may have found it in Steam Deck Folio.

Steam Deck Folio is a product coming soon to Kickstarter to get backing from the community, and it looks like a great way to protect your Deck. Created by Andrew Reeves, this is a flap that attaches to your Steam Deck and covers your screen with a durable PU cover with a soft microfiber inner lining. It looks like there are enough holes to allow you to access all the essential buttons as well, like the power and volume buttons, as well as an exhaust and intake opening for when the cover flips over.

It looks easy and simple to use, with a great way to protect the screen of the Steam Deck. However, there are two ways the product looks to stand out. It can flip back and turn into a stand so you don't have to hold your Steam Deck. This is especially useful, but there are other products like docks and cases that do something similar. The second way it stands out, and the one I like the most, is the thumbstick locks.

These are TPU rubber clamps that stick on the outward face of the cover and can be used to lock your thumbstick in place. Whenever I take out my Steam Deck from my backpack, the thumbstick almost always tends to get caught on something, so this would be extremely helpful here. It's a small addition, but for me, it would probably be the biggest selling point for a product like this.

On top of that, the product works while the Steam Deck is docked thanks to the holes in the top exposing the USB-C port, and the Folio attaches and detaches from the Deck using magnets that are similar to magsafe technology that we see in phones.

Speaking to Andrew directly, he told me that the product will launch on February 25th, and will start off with a super early bird price of $29. This is a special price that will be reserved for the first 600 backers. After those first 600, the price will jump to $35 for the next 600 people, and finally, will settle at $40 MSRP once those are done. There will also be a special bundle price to get two of them for $69.
