We have known for a while that SteamOS was going to come to other handhelds, and this is starting with the Lenovo Legion Go S, but while SteamOS will be compatible, the UI will also need to be compatible. There are different options that directly reference the Steam Deck, so this would have to theoretically change for other handhelds to use more inclusive wording. Well, it looks like Valve is doing just that behind the scenes, and it happened in the last Steam Deck Beta Client update.
Caught by SadlyItsBradley on Twitter/X, the newest Steam Deck Client Beta quietly changed some of the UI to be more inclusive and support more hardware. There are a couple of lines of text in the last update that relate to running multiple games at the same time and warn the user against doing that. The new lines of text seem to completely erase the mention of the Deck entirely:

I am not particularly surprised that this is happening, but I found it interesting that it is happening behind the scenes for these updates. With Valve moving SteamOS and the Steam Deck's Game Mode UI to support other handhelds like the Legion Go S, and maybe even Desktop at some point, it makes sense why they would be changing this. It's small but definitely essential.
It appears this is something that will most likely be on-going, so there will probably be more changes as time goes on.

Very exciting news! I probably won't be picking up a Legion Go S when that comes out, but I'll certainly consider using it even on my school/work laptop, whenever SteamOS releases publicly that is.
