Retroid has been on a roll with their handhelds lately. Their Pocket G2 and Pocket 6 both were great to use, and I especially enjoyed using the G2 while I was traveling. The Pocket 6, however, is an incredible deal for the power you’re getting at that price. Now, the next handheld from Retroid is being teased; it looks like it’s going to be following a different design.

Posted on the Retroid Discord server and Twitter/X, the Pocket Nova is going to be a new handheld that utilizes a 4:3 aspect ratio screen. This is much better for emulation, especially for retro devices since most of the older consoles utilize this ratio. However, to separate it from other 4:3 devices, like the AYANEO Pocket AIR Mini, it will be using an OLED screen.
There’s no other new information about it just yet, but it is exciting to see that this is where they’re heading next. I fell in love with the 4:3 aspect ratio with the Pocket AIR Mini, so imagining a handheld like that with an OLED screen just gets me more excited. I’ll be watching and seeing exactly how it shakes out, and I’m very much looking forward to seeing what kind of power it’s going to have.
