You might be forgiven for thinking we were already in the height of the PC component crisis, but there's more bad news on the horizon, I'm afraid. After raising the price of the Lenovo Legion Go 2 to a whopping $2000 a couple of weeks ago, attention has now turned to the cheaper Lenovo Legion Go S, with both the Z1 Extreme and Z2 Go models being affected.

The more powerful Lenovo Legion Go S Z1 Extreme model, which boasts 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, has seen a price increase from $900 to an eye-watering $1,580, an increase of $680, which is over 75% more.

The "budget" friendly Z2 Go model with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage saw a more modest increase, going from $650 to $990. That's a mere $340 increase, or around 52% more.

Considering handhelds such as the original ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go launched at prices lower than these, and perform in a similar ballpark, it's pretty shocking how poorly the industry seems to be coping with this crisis. In the last 3 years or so, prices have essentially doubled, while providing little performance improvement.

If you're after a handheld in this performance bracket, you're still probably best off grabbing a refurbished ROG Ally, which you can often pick up for around $400. Or buying an ROG Xbox Ally X for $999 before the price increases hit that, too.
