The INIU Cougar P63 was provided by INIU for review. Thank you!

I do a lot of traveling for work and just in general. It’s part of what makes living abroad enjoyable. Thankfully, a lot of my work can be taken with me, as I'm primarily working with handhelds. However, keeping them charged is a whole other beast, and I rely a lot on power banks to help out. So, I’ve been searching for a good power bank to take with me on the go, and the INIU Cougar P63 may be my favorite that I’ve used. It has a good balance of capacity and size, and that makes it perfect to take on the go and charge all my devices without issue. It might not be perfect, but it might be the best portable option right now, especially when considering the price.

Build Quality and Design

Initially, I was surprised by the INIU power bank. Almost every other power bank I owned was pretty beefy, but this was way smaller than expected. It has almost the perfect size, fitting pretty well in my pockets and in tighter sections of my backpack. I was shocked by how small it was, and with me being on the move so often, having something that is so portable is wonderful.

The actual quality of this power bank is apparent. It’s coated in a soft, rubber-like material that feels both soft and cool to the touch. I really like the texture and how it feels when I’m holding it. The front half also has a screen that is coated in plastic. It’s encased tightly with little to no obvious cracks throughout it. It feels completely smooth, which makes it feel like one cohesive device. All in all, it feels like a quality, solidly built power bank.

And I really do appreciate the simple, portable-focused design. Most of the other power banks that I have are much larger, or at least much longer. With the INIU Cougar P63, none of that becomes an issue. While it is a little bit wider, it is significantly shorter, and that makes it so much easier to take around with me. This makes it way more comfortable to put in my pocket, or put in a pocket in my backpack.

However, it’s important to keep things in perspective and remember that this is still a bulky battery. Because of that, it is a little bit heavy, sitting at around 396g, which will weigh down your pocket. This is pretty normal, with other similar power banks averaging the same weight and my 30,000mAh power bank weighing in at around 519g. So, this is less of a knock against it and more of an expectation check. It’s definitely more portable to carry around, but we do have the unavoidable weight to account for.

Still, the fact that it is much smaller in length makes it significantly easier to take around, and there’s no denying that. I can’t fit my Baseus Power Bank in my pocket comfortably, but I can’t fit this INIU bank in with ease.

We also have a decent-sized screen on the front, which shows us how much capacity is left in the power bank. There’s also a little indicator showing when it’s charging or charging another device, but that’s really about it. With how big the screen is, it feels like a missed opportunity to show more detailed information, like how much wattage is being used to charge a device. This is something I love seeing, and with how much of the screen there is, it feels a little weird that only the top 10% of the screen is being used. It shows the necessary information, but it’d be nice to have the extras.

At the top, we have three ports that we can use to charge from. Two USB-C ports, with one supporting 100W charging and the other supporting 45W, and a USB-A port that can charge up to 18W. All three of these can be used at the same time to charge three devices at once, which is a nice feature in theory. But for the compact nature of this power bank, the three ports are more than satisfactory.

Usage and Charging

With the wattage of each port, we do have a good chunk of devices we can choose from to charge at maximum capacity. The Steam Deck caps at 45W, so that second port is perfect, while other Windows handhelds, like the Xbox Ally X and Ally X, and laptops (like the MacBook Neo), can go upwards of 100W. So, having ports designed to charge as fast as possible is great.

Using both of the USB-C ports works perfectly, and they can both output their maximum amount at the same time. However, trying to use the second USB-C and USB-A ports at the same time will limit the power that’s coming out of the ports. I tested us by draining my two Steam Decks and charging them both on the USB-C ports at the same time, and they were both charging as much as they could. However, trying to charge my watch using the USB-A port at the same time as the others made it so the deck connected to the second USB-C port had very limited power. It does say on the device that using those two at the same time caps the power at 15W. So, while you can charge three devices at once, there will be some limitations with the second two ports.

However, using both USB-C ports simultaneously has no limitations other than the 45W limit on the second port. So, charging a MacBook and Steam Deck at the same time, or an ROG Xbox Ally X and Steam Deck, will not have any slowdowns in their charging capabilities.

In my testing, I found that the Steam Deck used about 69% of its battery to charge from 0 to 100%, whereas my iPhone 15 Pro Max used only about 25% of its battery to go from 0 to 100%. So, we will get around 1 and 1/4 charges for the Steam Deck with this, and considering the size, I’d say this is pretty significant.

As for charging the battery itself, it took around two hours to charge from 0 to 100%. I was using fast charging, so this should be around what to expect when recharging the INIU.

The P63 Power Bank has a 25,000mAh battery inside of it, which is a lot bigger than a lot of the other common power banks I’ve seen. Usually, it’s around 10,000 or 20,000, so this, being a little bit larger, allows us to charge more on the go. And it still falls within the airline guidelines; it won’t be flagged for flights. There should be no worry about taking this when traveling on flights, which is major for me because I always travel this way.

While the majority of the device remains relatively cool, it does heat up around the USB-A port when charging. I don’t know the exact temperature, but it gets very hot and borders on too hot to touch. This isn’t abnormal either; a lot of power banks get hot when charging, but I did find myself accidentally touching that hot part more often because the bank is so small.

And that leaves us with the price, which I do think is a pretty good deal, especially when compared to other major brands. It is $67, which is around the average for a high-capacity power bank of this size. However, the high output and compact design put it above a lot of its competitors. The closest one I could find from the major competitors is the UGREEN 145W power bank, but it is also much bigger. All of the others I found from trusted brands had some compromise, whether it be a smaller battery or lower Wattage, which makes the P63 feel even more like a good deal.

結論

The INIU P63 Power Bank is probably the best power bank I have used so far for traveling. It’s got a great, compact design that is easy to store and take with us, even if it is a little bit heavy. The ports all have enough Wattage to fast-charge every handheld I have, and I can use two of them at the same time, and it can do a full charge for the Steam Deck and still have some battery left over. The limitation for USB-C and USB-A ports being used at the same time is a little disappointing, as the screen feels underutilized, but the value is clear as day and will be what I primarily take with me from now on whenever I travel.
